Sushila had a successful career as a teacher before falling ill with kidney failure. She now lives with her doting husband in sheltered accommodation in North London and travels to the hospital 3 times a week for heamodialysis. However this doesn’t stop Sushila who leads an active social life both at the hospital and at the care home.

A few photos from my recent shoot in the little town of Olpe in Kansas.
Lexi lives with her Mum, step Dad, little brother Richard and her autistic five year old sister Ashlynn. They are an absolutely wonderful family, so full of love for each other. Lexi is an amazing 10 year old who spends a lot of her time helping care for Ashlynn and is a real inspiration. You can see more of Lexi’s...

Wrapped!
Today I tried to use my eyes to zoom into an object…I clearly have been attached to a camera for an unhealthy amount of time! I’m back in London and tomorrow I start the rather exciting process of post production. I literally can’t wait to start piecing the film together into a proper story. I’m going to be spending the next three weeks editing my film with editor Ruth...

Shoot going really well - lucky to be filming with a little star in the making and no major dramas apart from a broken tripod and an addiction to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Nothing new there then.

BBC Commission!
A few months ago I went over to the States to make a taster tape for an idea I had for a documentary.
I’m so pleased to announce that the film has been commissioned by the BBC and will be aired in February on BBC1!
9ten11 explores growing up in the USA post 9/11 as seen through the eyes of three American children - born on 9/11 - and those of their parents. What are their thoughts and...

Angus and The Sea
Over the past few weeks as well as other projects I’ve been working on a documentary called Angus and The Sea which is being directed by Alana McVerry.
Angus deep in thought minutes before the swim.
In Alana’s words ‘Angus has dedicated the last four years of his life to this, his biggest ever challenge. Angus is no swimming champion either, quite theopposite, Angus is a...

High School Volleyball, Billings, MT
During my time in the States I was completely immersed in American life. The Day family, who I was filming, took me to their daughter Molly’s volleyball tournament which was so much fun - I found myself getting far too involved in the game and really rooting for Molly’s team to win… I found the atmosphere to be quite different to any school match I’d been to in the UK. Not...

Have been very bad at updating this blog recently - (see my other blog to see why) but work is very busy as usual which is great. Yesterday was the first shooting day of a 30 minute documentary I’m directing about Oli Lewington’s quest to conquer the 3 Peaks. Am absolutely thrilled to be working on this - Oli and the production team are absolutely fab and it’s going to be a great...

Better late than never!
Last week I completed my first week of sailing training for my leg in the Clipper Round the World yacht race 2011 - 12. I had an incredible time, met some super lovely people and was reminded why I’m so lucky to now have such good health and be able to be involved in such a thing. Anyway, this blog is supposed to be about my work so if you’d like to find out...

Last Friday I screened Young, Deaf & CF at the Barbican and did a Q&A after which was a really great experience. Not only was the Q&A really challenging (in a good way) and made me think about the film in a lot of ways I previously haven’t - it was ace to see the film on the big screen and show some family and friends that hadn’t previously seen it. Will post some photos of...

NHS Portrait 26/30...getting there
Photographs taken on a chilly Sunday a couple of weeks ago. Part of a commission for the NHS, this is Dr Duncan and his very sweet 6 year old son Callum.
I don’t usually edit the colours of many of my images, but I wanted these to have a timeless feel and therefore boosted the contrast a little and washed out some of the colours to different levels to see which looked best.

I write this from my cosy bed with a big mug of tea after a hugely hectic week. Yesterday was spent filming the 4th NHS film, where I met the lovely Mr and Mrs Shah (see photos under this post) who live in sheltered housing in North London. They entertained us all day with lots of stories (Mrs Shah used to be a primary school teacher) and sweetly demonstrated their daily routine of...

This week was spent in a very chilly Stockholm filming with Emma Elizabeth from TheDesignVlog.com
We had a fab time wondering round lots of exhibitions, meeting designers and exploring Stockholm (and managed to fit in a bit of shopping too!) Stockholm is an ace city with so much to offer including some incredible restaurants and a frozen river! (I was far too excited by this.) I’ll post up...
