A few months ago I went over to the States to make a taster tape for an idea I had for a documentary.
I’m so pleased to announce that the film has been commissioned by the BBC and will be aired in February on BBC1!
9ten11 explores growing up in the USA post 9/11 as seen through the eyes of three American children - born on 9/11 - and those of their parents. What are their thoughts and aspirations? How did the parents cope with bringing a baby into the world on a day of such personal joy for them and such devastation fortheir country? And how do they all deal with the annual coincidence of the children’s birthday and the anniversary of 9/11?
How has the experience changed them all since? And how do they see their own future and their country’s? Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, always touching and thought-provoking, 9ten11 is an intimate portrait of the lives of three very different 10 years olds and their families with one big thing in common.
This is their story.
I am directing and producing the film which is going to be part of CBBC’s documentary series ‘My Life.’ I am so pleased to be part of My Life as it is an excellent series that dares to explore subjects and stories that haven’t been done before.
I’m in a crazy bubble of pre production at the moment and leave to start shooting in the States in 2 weeks… eek!
